ABOUT THE IT UNIT

The Information Technology Unit provides user-friendly, reliable, office automation, and information management so that the department can represent the client agencies and the State of Colorado in legal matters as competently and economically as possible. The Unit provides system design, programming, implementation, training, and technical assistance in all phases of the automated systems operated by the department.

POSITION SUMMARY
The Salesforce Developer/Administrator will support the development and administration of the Colorado Department of Law’s (DOL) Salesforce organization. Working with the Salesforce Team, this position will improve existing processes and promote the use of the Salesforce platform. Key responsibilities include conducting user testing, ensuring data quality, and maintaining system functionality. The role collaborates with department leaders, organizational units, and subject matter experts to identify, develop, and implement new business processes. It also involves making code and configuration changes, providing technical support, and improving the DOL’s Salesforce implementation where needed.

Additionally, the Salesforce Developer/Administrator may be responsible for the implementation, maintenance, and support of Salesforce and integrated systems. This includes system configuration, development, testing, documentation, and user support for CRM applications. While Salesforce is currently utilized by the Division of Community Engagement and the Consumer Protection Section, this role supports the ongoing development and deployment of enterprise-wide solutions across the DOL.

WHAT YOU WILL DO
Salesforce Development and Administration


  • Develop new and maintain existing Salesforce solutions using configurable and custom components, including Salesforce Lightning components, Apex code, and custom objects, fields, record types, flows.
  • Review and ensure data quality with business users and implement changes to address deficiencies using various data validation strategies and methods.
  • Resolve day-to-day issues that arise to ensure real-time issues are handled on a timely basis.
  • Handle administrative duties such as uploading, extracting, or maintaining data, cleaning data, reporting, user management, and assisting users with general day to day processes.
  • Create and maintain reports and dashboards in Salesforce and extracting insights from data for advancing agency initiatives.
  • Maintain and develop integrations with external systems as needed.
  • Work with stakeholders to execute the development, configuration, support, maintenance and improvements of the Salesforce platform and related components.
  • Conduct user acceptance and system testing with stakeholders to ensure quality prior to releases.
  • Ensure testing environments are configured and in sync with production environments.
  • Help conduct complex systems design and development while supporting custom solutions and managing administrative functions, including user and data management, reports and dashboards, and custom configurations and views.
  • Install, configure, and manage packages and components, including Lightning web components, Adobe e-sign, Conga Composer, Salesforce Communities, and document management solutions, such as Box.com.
  • Create and manage processes to ensure on-going maintenance and support of Salesforce and integrated systems including configuration, development, testing, documentation, and user support.

Periodic System Maintenance and Administration
  • Perform critical system maintenance and the Confidentiality, Integrity and Availability (CIA) of the Salesforce platform on a monthly basis.
  • Review and make necessary changes to the database structure, runs complete backup, runs updates, and ensures custom settings are preserved.
  • Designs, implements, and maintains systems architecture for a scalable and enterprise-wide solution.
  • Review and understands each new Salesforce seasonal release and the impact it may have on the platform, including impacts to customizations and external applications.
  • Identify and implement data cleansing and de-duplication processes to ensure data quality and system functionality.
  • Perform regular user activation, deactivation, access changes and security reviews.
  • Conduct process and system testing, interfacing with users and business units to ensure quality of releases and seasonal changes.
  • Maintain integrations, certificates, passwords, and third-party accounts securely to ensure no service disruptions.
  • Identify, troubleshoot and resolve user and system problems. Identify root cause of problem, identify, requirements, record documentation, and develop solution or work with team to resolve the issue.

Training and End User Experience
  • Manage enterprise and Community users, unlocking user accounts or resetting passwords.
  • Develop and maintain documentation for Salesforce processes, systems, coding, and development schematics while maintaining an understanding of and documenting application dependencies, workflows, integrations, and processes surrounding the applications and associated components.
  • Manage and develop Salesforce reports, including the creation of scheduled reports.
  • Makes reporting recommendations to users and develops or fine-tunes reports so they yield meaningful metrics.
  • Conduct testing, documentation, and deployment of changes between end users and developer/administrators.
  • Conduct user feedback and training sessions to ensure adoption and understanding of any new or existing Salesforce process.
  • Conduct regular check-ins with staff to gather feedback and new requirements.

This recruitment may be used to fill multiple positions in the Department of Law, Administration Section.

Salary note: Although a salary range is listed, salary will be set commensurate with the successful candidate's qualifications and in compliance with the Equal Pay for Equal Work Act.

Experience Only:
Three (3) years of relevant experience as a Salesforce Developer/Administrator, which must include at least four (4) of the following areas:


  • Salesforce user management and administration

  • Testing and implementing Salesforce seasonal releases
  • Creating and managing sandboxes in Salesforce
  • Creating workflow rules, process builders, and flows as configurable solutions in Salesforce
  • Creating, maintaining, and using Lightning web components, VisualForce, and/or Apex

OR

Education and Experience:
A combination of related education, formalized apprenticeship program, certification, and/or relevant experience as a Salesforce Developer/Administrator equal to three (3) years. This experience must include two (2) years of experience as a Salesforce Developer/Administrator, which must include at least four (4) of the following areas:
  • Salesforce user management and administration
  • Creating and maintaining custom dashboards and reports in Salesforce
  • Testing and implementing Salesforce seasonal releases
  • Creating and managing sandboxes in Salesforce
  • Creating workflow rules, process builders, and flows as configurable solutions in Salesforce
  • Creating, maintaining, and using Lightning web components, VisualForce, and/or Apex
If qualifying under the substitution, transcripts and/or copy of certification will be required.

Note: Candidates possessing a foreign degree must submit a translation (evaluation) of their degree from an accredited institution, such as The National Association of Credential Evaluations Services in order to be given credit for the degree.

Preferred Qualifications: In addition to the minimum qualifications, if you possess any of the following specifically include the details on your application, as this information will be used to assess your qualifications and may be used to determine a top group of applicants.
  • Demonstrated understanding of Salesforce architecture, configuration and code, and business process analysis, user requirements, and user needs, testing and documentation

  • Experience working in a role as a technical liaison between IT and non-technical customers

  • Salesforce Administrator certification
  • Additional certifications in Salesforce including but not limited to: Advanced Administrator, Platform App Builder, Platform Developer 1 or 2
  • Experience as a business analyst or similar role that required gathering requirements and developing a technical solution
  • Extensive experience in developing Force.com (Apex, VisualForce and Lightning)
  • Experience designing and building web and mobile interface on the Force.com platform
  • Experience with installing, configuring, and managing installed packages and components, such as Adobe E-Signature, Conga Composer, and document management solutions, such as Box.com
