Department Summary

The Office of Marketing & Communications tells HSC’s stories, using creative ways to engage internal audiences, prospective students and community members. We map out and implement strategic marketing and communication plans in collaboration with HSC departments and schools to showcase the university and its work in education, research and health care.

Position Overview

This position will develop content for and direct email marketing campaigns within Salesforce Marketing Cloud. The position also will participate and collaborate on other digital marketing systems as needed. This position works with stakeholders to determine marketing requirements and oversees activities, such as writing and email design, related to the successful rollout, measurement and review of campaigns.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in related field and five years' of closely related professional experience and experience planning and implementing marketing automations, preferably within Salesforce or any equivalent combination of education and experience.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to produce email content and conduct collaborative revision with multiple stakeholders.
  • Familiarity with AP writing style.
  • Ability to coordinate large projects with numerous components over extended periods of time.
  • Skills with Salesforce Marketing Cloud or other similar marketing automation tools, including skills around audience segmentation, content staging, automated journey building, etc.
  • Ability to identify and measure campaign end goals, including the ability to implement technical solutions for measurement.
  • Ability to develop custom APIs to facilitate the automated reading and writing of data between systems.
  • Knowledge of Google Tag Manager principals necessary for implementing and confirming on-site campaign conversions, tracking scripts and marketing-related tools.
  • Ability to present complex data in terms relevant to a variety of stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of WCAG 2.0, Level AA compliant web accessibility standards.
  • Ability to produce the best possible products on deadline.
  • Keen understanding of email and data privacy compliance laws.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 3 years of online marketing, multichannel campaign planning experience.
  • Experience identifying relevant audience segments and configuring the delivery of targeted, relevant content to them.
  • Experience with data management and analysis, including the development and management of automated reporting systems.
  • Knowledge of multiple data management and analysis toolsets, including SQL, Python, Tableau, Looker Studio, PowerBI or others.

Job Duties:

  • Writes, designs and executes email and CRM marketing campaigns for HSC programs in collaboration with university Marketing & Communications, Admissions & Recruitment and other teams, ensuring cohesion among all media strategies, including those campaigns managed by outside vendors.
  • Writes copy and works collaboratively through revision processes.
  • Identifies audience segments and proposes journeys and messaging around them.
  • Continually assesses and reports on the effectiveness of CRM and email marketing for improvement. Manages marketing projects from planning to launch of new strategies and tactics as CRM reach increases, including testing and evaluating plans for new CRM features.
  • Manages and provides reports and dashboards for the HSC community, adjusting marketing efforts based on data. Will work in PowerBI or Looker Studio. Will also need to be familiar with Google’s Tag Manager and Google Analytics 4.
  • Facilitates campaign needs by detecting and solving technology delivery issues as a strong problem-solver, troubleshooting or implementing new API functions.
  • Provides integration of webhooks and API functions to expand effectiveness of the CRM, including mobile and web capture forms, analytics and reporting mechanisms for user behaviors, CRM system engineering and configuration, planning automated and intermittent integration of new audience data in a variety of formats from a variety of sources.
  • Manages and collaborates with external marketing partners.
