About the Role
As an Inside Sales Rep (ISR) at Matson, you will serve as a key customer contact for your assigned region.
You will be responsible for identifying and qualifying accounts for development and potential transition to Outside Sales when revenue thresholds are met and maintain current customer relationships and develop targeted business while negotiating rates as appropriate, maintain Salesforce & Customer data, work with internal stakeholders to deliver superior service to our customers. Goals may include revenue, market share, volume, service specific goals, forecasting, and others as determined by the Regional Sales Director (RSD). The ISR is expected to gather market intelligence and communicate to his team members as appropriate.

What you’ll do:
- Qualify accounts to determine if they remain with assigned to the ISR or if they require Outside Sales contact.
- Deliver quality, consistent, and timely responses to both customers and MNC internal organization.
- Know their accounts key contacts, business practices, competitive environment, tariffs, and overall market information.
- Meet or exceed the required (outgoing) daily/weekly customer call statistic set by the Regional Sale Director
- Meet or exceed Target Account, Rate Request, Quote follow-up and Weekly Report requirements based on the PBM.
- Demonstrate proficiency with MNC Tariffs & Contracts: Hawaii, Guam & Marshall Islands, & Alaska.
- Quote rates and when appropriate, negotiate rates to ensure freight support.
- Know and understand the various Matson organizational functions and personnel responsible for obtaining information and assistance in all Matson departments.
- Pro-actively solve customer issues to ensure consistent support.
- Develop and maintain a toolkit of Matson services and schedule to provide accurate and timely information to customers.
- Occasionally participate in outside sales calls.
- Comfortable with cold calling via phone and email.
- Contact all unassigned shippers in their region, as directed by the Regional Sales Director.
You have these skills:
- Demonstrate proficiency with GATES and all Web-based applications.
- Familiar with PC and MS Office software such as Word, Excel, Outlook, SalesForce.
- Demonstrate effective communication internally and externally via phone, email and when providing quotes.
- Work independently with minimal supervision.
And these qualifications:
- 2 years of college or equivalent experience.
- Excellent teamwork, interpersonal and communication skills.
- Exceptional relationship-building and customer service skills.
- Self-starter and strong ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
- High degree of professionalism and comfort working with external customers.
- Problem-solving, critical thinking skills with the ability to research and analyze data.
- Keen attention to detail.
Extra credit if you have:
- 3 years’ experience in the transportation industry preferred.
The annual salary range for this position in California is $61,200 - $83,280. The salary offered will depend upon qualifications and other operational considerations.
